Star Spangled Boots and Distressed Stripes

Happy Friday! It's Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog and today's card is celebrating this upcoming Independence Day with the new Star Spangled Boots stamp kit and simple technique to create grunge stripes. These boots were made for craftings... and that's just what we'll do!

I started with the boots using some Copic markers. I colored it based on the American flag. {Copics used are: R29, R27, R24, B37, B26, FB2, C6, C4, C2, C0} I loved the look of the brown boot, but I wanted to use a grey version for this card to keep with a red, white/grey and blue vibe. Once done, I fussy cut the boots out.

For the background, I started by stamping the sentiment using Versafine Clair ink for that crisp black ink look. This would gauge how wide the stripes would be on the card.

I used some post it tape and ripped the edges to create some rough lines. Using Distress Inks in Prize Ribbon and Fired Brick, I blended each line creating stripes. Using a little ink splatter allows to hide any imperfections. I happen to have some clay stars that worked perfectly for this card. Lastly, using the new Deckle & Stitches Nesting Dies to die cut the background and a layer of grey card stock. These dies might just be my new favorite!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you've found some inspiration. I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.

Happy Crafting!
