Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a little idea I had using 4" x 4" canvas boards I purchased at Michael's. This little idea came from seeing friends using ceramic tiles for crafts and I wondered how it would look to stamp on a canvas. Well, it turned out pretty nice! Check it out!
For this little canvas, I used Unity Stamp Co.'s "Grace of Letting Go" stamp set. There are some simple steps to make one of these.
Step 1: Using a Misti or another stamping tool, place the canvas in a corner where it will not budge. I still use a bar magnet to hold it down.
Step 2: Stamp the image on the canvas using an ink that works with copics. You may need to stamp this image a few times to get crisp lines because of the texture of the canvas.
Step 3. Heat set the stamped image until you see the ink is dry.
Step 4. Add ink. You can use distress inks like I did for the background and copics to color the image. Note that the canvas is not porous so the alcohol ink does not blend like it would on paper. In the end, I feel like it looks more like an oil painting.
Here are some photos to show you the steps as well. Click the arrow to see the next photo.
Another technique with these canvas is to blend distress inks on the canvas before stamping. Then stamp the image and heat set it (see below).
Color it in the same as the other and add your sentiment the same way as your first stamp impression. To cover a few imperfections, I took my nail file and distressed the ink a little. Done and done! These little canvases can be a great gift for your relative or friend going to college, moving into a new home or starting a new job. It's also a great stocking stuffer. Add a flat magnet to the back and add this to your fridge!
I hope you enjoyed this post and subscribe to see more! Until next time: Happy Crafting!
