For the Birds

This stencil is not just for the birds. Happy Saturday! Today's stencil by A Colorful Life Designs is the "A Bunch of Birds" stencil and something made me want to be a little mischievous with this one!

I started with some soft patterned paper and used Fired Brick Distress Ink to color in the birds with a touch of Ground Espresso Distress Ink from the bottom up of each bird for added shadowing.

Next, using some Tim Holtz dies, I die cut a frame and the cat, layering them for depth, and adhered them to the birdie background.

{Quick tip: I trimmed the end of the cat so that the tail did not lift the frame.}

Lastly, I added a fun sentiment stick by Tim Holtz that adds to the mischievous look of this kitty surrounded by birds. I matted the stenciled background on brown card stock, then gold and onto an ivory card base keeping with the neutral tones.
