Happy Fri-YAY, Crafty Friends! This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today sharing a birthday card inspired by a Spicy Sunset Margarita using the "If You Were Whiskey" stamp kit. Yep, you can fill that cup with anything, and I created a faux margarita with it. Let's serve it up!
Step 1: Using an embossing powder tool, dust an A2 sized piece of yellow card stock.
Step 2: Stamp the cup all over the background using Embossing Ink and clear emboss it.
Step 3: Blend ink on the card stock bottom up, starting with darkest to lightest.
Now let's make a drink. This image was originally supposed to be a glass of whiskey, but I really wanted a margarita. 🤷🏽♀️ So I searched some cocktails and found a beautiful sunset margarita and did the same as the background, dark to light with Copics: YR27, YR24, Y26, Y18, Y06. And like a sweet margarita, I added some sugar on the rim using some Rock Candy Stickles.
I had to pair the sentiment with something fun. So I stamped the "cheers" from the October 2020 Sentiment Kit: "Heart of Christmas" and used the coordinating die set to cut it out. I also used white embossing powder over black card stock on a strip. I created a thin white border to frame the black strip and bring all the colors together. I also matted the bright background on black card stock.
This fun new cocktail image isn't limited to whiskey... so get creative and serve up your favorite drinks in your next card (and party!)
